On 3 December 2018, the Transport Ministers of the countries of the Danube region gathered in Brussels upon invitation of EU Commissioner Violeta Bulc to reinforce their commitment to an effective navigation status of the Danube and its navigable tributaries.

The Danube Transport ministers of 10 countries (Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, Germany, Romania, Slovakia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Moldova, Serbia, Ukraine) adopted the “Conclusions on effective waterway infrastructure rehabilitation and maintenance on the Danube and its navigable tributaries”.

Danube Transnational Programme’s projects make the difference. DriDanube was presented as a good example during workshop organised by Interact during the Climate Change Conference in Katowice.

On 8 December 2018, the Interreg Climate Change Network held a session presenting "Interreg contribution to climate change adaptation: discover results and funding opportunities". The goal was to show examples of relevant projects, and to provide the audience with information about how to benefit from the available funding research opportunities.

I welcome the presence in Bucharest of Mr. Jean Claude Juncker, President of the European Commission, the presence of the College of Commissioners in a particularly important moment for our country, awaited by us, the opening of the Romanian Presidency of the Council of the EU.

The Romanian Government’s visit to Brussels, last december, represented a good opportunity for strengthening our cooperation. It is their turn, of the College of Commissioners to visit us in Bucharest and to deepen the discussions on the concrete priorities and objectives that we have set for this semester of the Presidency.

The EU is taking steps to reduce CO2 emissions of cars and vans. Under the revised rules, there will be stricter CO2 emission standards for new passenger cars and light commercial vehicles. A provisional agreement reached by the Presidency and Parliament representatives on 17 December was endorsed by member states today.

The new rules will ensure that from 2030 onwards new cars will emit on average 37.5% less CO2 and new vans will emit on average 31% less CO2 compared to 2021 levels. Between 2025 and 2029, both cars and vans will be required to emit 15% less CO2.

Antonio Tajani: Good evening everybody. First of all, I want to underline the support of the European Parliament for the Romanian Presidency. As I said during my meeting with Prime Minister, for the European Parliament, we need to work hard for achieving good solution on the package on immigration. For us, Dublin reform is a priority. The European Parliament want to achieve an agreement with the member states, we need to do more, the problem is in the hand of the Council, for this, I think, we are pushing a lot with the Romanian presidency, for us, it is very, very important.
