The Danube Strategy Point invites interested parties to submit proposals for conducting an operational evaluation of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region.

In order to respond to this call for an expression of interest, interested experts must demonstrate their experience, capacity and suggested approach to carrying out the operational evaluation in view of the specification presented in the terms of reference.

Interested experts are advised to read the document in detail before drafting and submitting their offer. The offers, including all relevant documents, must be submitted in English, no later than 4 March, 2019, 13.00 (CET).

Over 900 delegates from Bulgaria and another 30 countries of Europe took part in the 7th Annual Forum of the Strategy

Bulgaria handed over the rotating Presidency of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region to Romania. Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Denitsa Nikolova, who is National Coordinator of the Strategy, handed over the symbol of the Presidency - a ship's wheel, to Victor Negrescu, Romania's Minister Delegate for European Affairs. The 7th Annual Forum of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region, as well as the Bulgarian Presidency of the Strategy, ended with the official ceremony. With over 900 delegates from all over Europe in the course of two days we have been able to take account of the significant progress of the Danube Strategy, its achievements and future development in the context of the next EU’s programming period after 2020 in order to make the coasts of the Danube River even closer”, Deputy Minister Nikolova said.

Strasbourg - After decades of plummeting numbers due to poaching and habitat loss, Europe’s sturgeon species have been given some much needed hope at last after 50 European countries and the European Union today signed up to a detailed continental-wide action plan to save the iconic fish.

The landmark commitment was adopted in Strasbourg by the Standing Committee of the Bern Convention, the Convention on the Conservation of European Wildlife and Natural Habitats – a legally binding regional conservation treaty, covering most of the natural heritage of the European continent.

Only one out of 46 CFP actions assessed by WWF was accomplished

This is the finding of a new report launched by WWF today, presenting European and Member State decision-makers with a comprehensive and evidence-based critique on the implementation of key Articles of the CFP.

Vienna - WWF presented today a Gift to the Earth, its highest award, to the International Commission for the Protection of the Danube River (ICPDR) at a ceremony at the UN in Vienna.

“WWF has given a Gift to the Earth, its highest award, in recognition of the transformational role that the International Commission for the Protection of the Danube River has played in promoting and securing clean flowing rivers as well as healthy habitats and species in the Danube River Basin, and in serving as a model for integrated river basin management across the world’s most international river basin,” said Andreas Beckmann, Managing Director of the WWF Danube-Carpathian Programme.
